Why Community Matters for ADHD Brains
Sep 27, 2025
If you live with ADHD, you’ve probably asked yourself at some point: “What the hell is wrong with me?”
It’s a painful, familiar loop. Deadlines slip, focus disappears, shame creeps in. Add the misinformation that circulates in the media about ADHD and neurodiversity, and it’s easy to feel isolated, misunderstood, and overwhelmed.
But here’s what research and lived experience tell us: ADHD brains don’t thrive in isolation. They thrive in community.
Why Community Matters
-
Shared Experience: When you see your challenges mirrored in others, the shame starts to lift. You realise you’re not alone. You’re human, and many people in the world struggle with challenges similar to yours.
-
Practical Learning: Strategies that work for one ADHD brain often inspire others. Community sparks creativity and experimentation. How good would it be to create an ADHD Think Tank? One day, I will make that happen.
-
Accountability & Support: Gentle encouragement from peers makes follow-through easier and setbacks less overwhelming.
Moving From Shame to Strength
Community doesn’t erase ADHD traits — but it reframes them. Instead of “I’m the only one who struggles with this,” the message becomes: “This is something I can work with — and I’m not alone in it.”
How Group Coaching Helps
That’s why I created Unstuck: ADHD Coaching for Professionals — a 6-week small group program starting the week of October 28, 2025. Together, we’ll focus on:
-
Understanding how your brain actually works
-
Building clarity around what matters most
-
Practising tools for focus and momentum
-
Connecting with a group of peers who will meet you where you are right now, not where you're expected to be
Through the lived experience of the hundreds of clients I have coached, and my own, I have come to learn that thriving with ADHD isn’t about doing more or trying harder. It’s about being supported, seen, and connected.

Caroline
