Choosing A Career with ADHD

Relaunch Me Podcast - Hosted by Leah Lambart

I was honoured to join Leah Lambart, Founder of Relaunch Me, for a thoughtful conversation about navigating career choices when you have ADHD, and how understanding your strengths can completely change the trajectory of your work life.

In this interview, Leah and I talk about how ADHD coaching supports clients to identify and leverage their signature strengths so they can thrive in both education and the workplace. We explore what it looks like to build a career that works with the ADHD brain, rather than against it.

We discussed:

  • My own career journey and the pivots I’ve made along the way

  • What ADHD coaching involves and the types of clients I support

  • Common challenges ADHDers face in school and workplace settings

  • How individuals diagnosed with ADHD can work with their natural strengths

  • What employers can do to create neuro-affirming, supportive environments

Cutting Through the Noise: ADHD, Clarity & Real Life Strategies

Cutting Through The Noise Podcast - Hosted by Hayley Mears

I recently joined Hayley Mears on the Cutting Through The Noise podcast for an honest, practical conversation about what it really feels like to navigate life with ADHD, why it is so prevalent in the hairdressing industry, and the simple shifts that can make a huge difference in our day-to-day clarity and confidence.

In this episode, Hayley and I talk about the challenges that often go unseen: the overwhelm, the emotional load, the pressure to keep up, and the expectation to “function” in systems that aren’t designed for ADHD brains. We also dive into the strengths, creativity and resilience that so many ADHDers carry, even when they don’t recognise it in themselves.

We explored:

  • Why ADHD so often gets misunderstood or overlooked

  • How overwhelm shows up at work, at home and in relationships

  • Tools that help ADHDers “cut through the noise” and get unstuck

  • How executive function affects decision-making and follow-through

  • The role of self-acceptance and gentle structure in making real progress

  • What supportive, neuro-affirming environments actually look like

Conversations & Connections: Understanding the ADHD Brain Through a New Lens

Conversations & Connections Podcast - Hosted by Kerryn Powell

I was invited by Kerryn Powell to join her on the Conversations & Connections podcast to talk about ADHD as a different ability, not a deficit. We had an open and thoughtful conversation about how self-awareness, compassion and connection can transform the way ADHD shows up in everyday life — both for individuals and families.

I also share my personal journey from a fast-paced corporate career to discovering ADHD through supporting my son, which ultimately led to my own diagnosis and the creation of The Addvocacy Project. This episode explores the power of reframing, strengths-based support and understanding how your brain works so you can move through life with more confidence and clarity.

We discussed:

  • My journey from corporate life to ADHD coaching

  • Why ADHD is a different brain style, not a deficit

  • How understanding your wiring leads to confidence and self-acceptance

  • What an ADHD coach does and who I support

  • How families can build connection through simple, intentional rituals

  • The importance of neuro-affirming environments in schools and workplaces

  • Five steps for anyone exploring an ADHD assessment or seeking support

Understanding ADHD Paralysis

ADHDifference Podcast - Hosted by Julie Legg

I recently joined Julie Legg on the ADHDifference podcast to unpack the reality of ADHD paralysis, a mental “freeze” state where decision-making and action become incredibly difficult, even when you want to move forward. Julie and I explored how ADHD paralysis shows up in everyday life, why it’s so often misunderstood, and what supportive, realistic strategies can help people break through overwhelm with more self-compassion.

In this conversation, I share parts of my own journey with ADHD, including my late diagnosis, the experiences I had navigating my child’s ADHD assessment, and the path that led me to train as a certified ADHD coach. We also discuss why ADHD paralysis is frequently mislabeled as laziness or procrastination, and how understanding executive function can shift the entire narrative.

We discussed:

  • My personal ADHD journey and how parenting shaped my understanding

  • What ADHD paralysis actually is (and why it’s not laziness or a lack of willpower)

  • How overwhelm, perfectionism and fear of failure trigger paralysis

  • The role of executive function in starting, organising and following through

  • How paralysis affects home life, work, relationships and emotional wellbeing

  • Practical strategies to reduce paralysis, including breaking tasks down, external accountability and time awareness tools

  • How self-compassion and reframing shame are essential to healing

  • The role of ADHD coaching in helping clients move from stuck to supported

Bradfield Senior College Professional Learning Day

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to present our workshop "ADHD in the Classroom: Why a cookie cutter approach does not work". In this workshop, teaching staff had the opportunity to explore how ADHD presents differently in each student, and that by empowering them through exploring their unique strengths, students can become equipped to take ownership of their ADHD and enhance their learning.
